Easy Books

Easy Books is correctly named. It really is easy and well thought out. It is flexible and easy to correct mistakes. Great for business people who prefer doing business rather than spending days doing complex entries. The only two downsides are multi-currency is not supported which I wanted, and the price of syncing between 2 devices is too high. I got round the multi currency problem by creating a separate company for each currency and then merging them manually at the end of the year to produce one figure. Not ideal but the competitor which did handle multi-currency was too complex to use for a regular business person. I got round the syncing problem by emailing the back-up between devices. Not ideal again but it will do and it saves £40 per year. Perhaps Easy Books will look at these two areas at some point and I will then give them 5 star instead.

Having used sage for 6 years on pc, started using this app on mac. Really easy to use and to amend entries unlike sage. When you add in all the add-ons to make it useable it is a bit pricey (nearing £100) but for my use running my own small business it is brilliant. Would get 5 stars if add-on prices were more reasonable!

I am amazed at the general star rating for this app, it is a full blown simple to operate bookkeeping solution and it's up to you to choose how much detail is needed from a stand alone cash book akin to Quicken to a full set of books and monthly/annual reports.

I contacted Easy Books a few months ago and suggested a search option would be a nice facility eg search all entries for a particular amount or supplier name etc, I actually received a response saying will take my comments on board. A couple of upgrades later it's there, brilliant.

Price; apart from the online back up service what's the problem, you get to try it for a few pence and then if you like it pay a few pounds for the real deal, and this no annual licence renewal like some packages.

Looking at the upgrades etc that have occurred over the last 6 months I suspect that this App will eventually end up as a full blown accounts package, myself I own a small insurance brokerage and manage quite easily to produce a full balance sheet PL etc and at a cost of pennies compared to most other business expenses.

One more small request from me to Easy Books would be see what you can do about the bank account reconciliation format / process yours is ok but Quicken (Not Quick Books) is more intuitive, it's the only thing I sometimes struggle with, plus give a PC version to sync to.

I have been using this for a few months now and I am loving the ability to do everything on the move. It does everything I need very simply and efficiently. Also great value compared to other pc accounting programs. Keep up the good work.

I thought this app looked promising until I saw the pricing structure for in-app purchases. You could end up spending close to £100 making it fully-featured, with the minimum spend over £20 if you enter more than 120 transactions. Mental.

The app itself is very good when it works... We purchased the old app which was really good, then things went wrong! Apple had an update for the iPad which wiped everything off, we then tried to put all apps back on, not a problem... then we descovered that all our work was gone and the app wouldn't pick up that we had already paid for the full version.
The app has now updated to the new version 4.8 but still doesn't recognise that we have paid already for the full version, and now won't let us press any of the buttons to pay again or restore... GREAT! On going problem please help!!!!!!!

I've been using this app since April 2011. I'm using it to record my expenditure and also to create my invoices and does this pretty well. However, when I create an invoice to send and add my invoice reference, i.e. the name of the project/job and add in my Purchase Order reference. All is good UNTIL I send another invoice - all the information relating to my previous invoice gets carried over to the next invoice and when I 'update' my references I lose all my references on my previous invoice. If I need to go back and find an invoice relating to a job I invoiced for last month, all the references will be replaced by that of my most recent invoice. It does this regardless of which customer I use. I have raised this with the developer a while back he said it was a 'feature'.
I doubt very much if I'll carry on using this app in the next tax year. I doubt if the developer cares - he's had my money...

Easy booking seem to have every thing you need to keep track of your business expenses, I particularly like the time tracker.
I use it to keep a log of visit to studio clients, time taken on jobs and labor costs. Draft invoicing. All free to try out.
However, the add-ons are a bit on the pricy side. a little complex but once you get used to using some of the basic features it's fine.
Improvements - how about for the IMac version, inclusion of the HMRC Self Assessment tax return. I have noticed some other packages offer this as part of a book keeping spread sheet package.

Spent a couple of hours trying to find an online programme that would help me with learning for aat's but to no avail. Found this app which did in 5 minutes what I spent an afternoon trying to do.

I'm giving this app one star because the developer changed it from colour to greyscale and still hasn't given us the option to restore the colour that made it so quick and easy to use. Many people have asked for this, so evidently this developer doesn't care about what the customer wants. Now it's an overpriced app that looks and feels like it was designed for Windows 2000.

This is a great app for the small business, like mine, does everything you need it to do, it's just the cost factor like everyone else, I found that the whole package with sync, costs more then my accountant would charge, and I would still have to use him even though i have this package. Would be 5* apart from this though.

What's happened to the colour!??! Like the layout but please re-enable the colour; it's soooo drab and boring to look at and makes differentiation difficult.

I would rate this app as one of the best. It works really well but overpriced. Unfortunately the sync function is so expensive that it takes the real value of the app away.

This is even better than what it says on the tin. I had some doubt about the cost, but it is well worth it. The online sync is great, come out of the job, a few taps on the iPhone for an existing account - invoice sent.

I used to do invoices in word, and then have to convert to PDF. None of that hassle now - and very easy to send a statement.

How many times have you forgot to send an invoice? And then cant remember what you did.

I have not needed suport, but suggestions have been taken seriously with very quick reply.

Update December 2011, have asked a few questions, and had instant replies, one suggestion incorporated into app. Frequent updates and improvements by developer, many apps should take a leaf out this apps book.

I have been looking everywhere for an app that does simple accounts. I used to use Microsoft Money on my PC but since converting to all things Apple I have struggled to find a simple solution to account my biz expenses & produce accounts for my accountant. Hurrah, Easy Books does that for me. Well worth the money (and tax deductible)!!!

Still a fan of the app. But the new monochrome colour scheme has made (particularly) the reconciled entries difficult to differentiate. Can the previous colour coded scheme be chosen as a option?

App is good, needs an inventory stock list running along side invoice to make it better for me to use. Sync is a little expensive, maybe worth it if it was 12 months.

I run a mobile kitchen and this app has transformed my business in that I no longer wait until I'm swimming in receipts and playing catchup every month!
Is so straight forward which for me is essential!
I love the monthly breakdown it clearly shows exactly what I have spent on each ingredient.
Once set up it takes seconds to add transactions on the go.
As for the cost £20.99 for transactions is money well spent but the 6 monthly backup is a bit steep . I'd have given 5 stars if this backup was yearly fee of £15 ..

I run small fruit & veg retail shop, supplying to Nursing Homes ect, which all require, invoices, purchase orders, statements and so on. I have always done my accounts on a PC using MYOB, which are now Mamute. Too cut a long story short, their software now ceases to work after December 2011, without an upgrade, costing £140.00 plus vat.

I have downloaded Easy books for my Ipad / IPhone and run the accounts from this app. You would not believe how good this app is and what it is capable of doing. It is so easy to use and does much more then I need it to do. I purchased two add-ons, Invoicing and Syncing and it all works seamlessly. If you require a good piece of accounts software for your books, then take my advice and get this app.

A great big thank you to the developers. I now have piece of mind.
