EasyBooks is bookkeeping software made for the Mac. You record your income and expenses, keep full double-entry books and run reports such as profit and loss and balance sheet, all in a native Mac app that also works offline.
The same books are on your iPhone and iPad too, and they sync between your Apple devices. You can try it on your own figures for 14 days, with no card needed.
Try EasyBooks on your Mac for 14 days. No card needed.
Try EasyBooks free for 14 days Or download EasyBooks:Picture a plumber with a spreadsheet of last year's jobs, a photographer checking which clients still owe money, or a landlord keeping 2 flats in order. Each can start with a short list of accounts and the reports above. Most EasyBooks users keep their own books and are not accountants, so you decide how much of this you use. Details of each screen are in the EasyBooks for Mac guide.
There is no browser version and no Android app. If you work on a Mac, iPhone or iPad, that is a good match. If you need to log in from a web browser or an Android phone, EasyBooks will not meet that need.
EasyBooks handles Making Tax Digital for VAT and is recognised by HMRC for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is for sole traders and landlords registered for Self Assessment whose qualifying income is over the threshold for their start date (more than £50,000 from April 2026, with lower thresholds following). Not everyone who works for themselves is a sole trader, and partnerships are expected to follow later. Check the GOV.UK guidance and checker to see whether it applies to you.
If it does, you keep your books in EasyBooks and it prepares quarterly updates from the supported records on the accounts you map to HMRC categories. There is no second ledger. You still set up the accounts, keep complete records and check the figures before you send. Quarterly updates do not replace the tax return, which stays, and EasyBooks does not currently send the tax return. Read more on the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax page and the Making Tax Digital for VAT page.
EasyBooks has 3 plans. Bronze covers the bookkeeping, and every plan includes estimates for your customers. Silver adds PDF invoices for customers, time tracking and attachments. Gold adds multiple currencies, unlimited attachments and priority support.
In the UK, monthly prices in the Mac App Store start at £9.99 for Bronze, and prices on our website start at £13 a month or £120 a year. Your 14-day trial needs no card. The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to purchases made on our website. See the pricing page for every plan.
